What we are watching:
Happy Anniversary. One year ago today President Obama signed into law the $862 billion Recovery and Reinvestment Act with the promise it would immediately jump start job growth and create over 3 million jobs in two years. One year later we know that instead the economy has lost 2.8 million jobs and the only thing left to show for the stimulus is more debt. Despite the White House’s attempts to manufacturer good headlines throughout this past year and especially this week the numbers do not add up and, as recent polls show, the American people are not buying it.
RNC Chairman Michael Steele wrote about the failed stimulus in today’s Daily Caller, “Since those early heady days of the Obama administration the American people have seen behind the curtain of rhetoric and watched as millions of jobs were lost and unemployment rose into the double digits.” To read the rest of Chairman Steele’s op-ed click here.

What we are watching:
Jobs needed. President Obama heads to Maryland once again to tour a jobs training facility and give another speech. The President has been a frequent visitor to Maryland lately, each time bringing the same promises but no results.
There is a pattern developing here. RNC Chairman Michael Steele said the following regarding Senator Bayh’s intention to retire, “The fact of the matter is Senator Evan Bayh and moderate Democrats across the country are running for the hills because they sold out their constituents and don’t want to face them at the ballot box.” Read the full statement here.
The Cook Political Report moved the Indiana Senate seat to "Leans Republican" from "Leans Democrat." The Rothenberg Political Report is rating the seat a "toss-up," moving it from “narrow advantage” for Democrats.

What we are watching:
Are President Obama’s own economists admitting that the stimulus has failed? The President released his annual Economic Report today which includes a prediction of employment growth of 95,000 jobs per month and details the White House’s policy agenda to address issues such as the deficit moving forward. Now let’s break down the numbers:
Jobs Bill. Senate Democrats are scheduled to discuss jobs legislation during their weekly lunch which was moved to today because of weather.
