49 CommentsAs we begin the New Year, one fundamental question remains on America's mind: will Washington listen?
Throughout 2009, Americans pleaded with Congressional Democrats to end government bailouts, stop the wasteful "stimulus" packages, and cease efforts for a government takeover of health care. You asked for policies focused on the economy and job growth, efforts to strengthen small businesses and working families. Unfortunately, all we got from Washington was an unyielding march toward growing government-at any cost, forcing costly mandates and taxes on individuals, families, small businesses and cash-strapped states.
Democrats in Washington simply did not listen in 2009.
Americans have been voicing their opposition to the Obama Administration's over-reaching liberal policies and now even members of his own party are joining the ever-growing chorus of dissent; some have even begun switching parties. As Democrats continue their radical, leftist agenda in 2010, moderate Democrats will continue their exodus from a shrinking and out-of-touch Democrat Party.
More and more people are moving towards the Republican Party's core principles of less government, lower taxes, and personal responsibility. Now more than ever, it is time for Republicans and independent-minded Americans across the nation to take a stand, fight back and have their voices heard where it counts most -- the ballot box in 2010.
The RNC is ready to stand by you-the voters-and take America back to a position of national strength and prosperity.
2010: Here we come!

It will all be for naught... IF... the RNC doesn't nationalize the election in 2010 / 2012 by: 1. Adopting the Contract With America II, and requiring all candidates to support it. 2. Change the election process to require election run offs of top two candidates in primaries and general election. We got Clinton, McCain, and Obama simply because both the Dem and Rep Primaries allow too many candidates to split the vote - rather than forcing the voters to make a choice between the two most favorable / acceptable candidates. To avoid yet another disaster - you must change the primaries to require a run off of the two top vote getters. If the Dems had done that in 2008, Clinton would have been their candidate, and if the Reps had done it Romney would have been theirs - both of which would have been much better than Osama Obama, or the McCainiac!

OK - Here we come! Now, how can I, as an individual, contribute my time and efforts to really help in the upcoming elections? FWIW, I had the big opportunity to help in the Scott Brown campaign in Massachusetts - I made phone calls to voters in MA from my home. I hope I helped. Scott's system was very user-friendly and comfortable to use. What are the chances that I'll be able to do something similar in any of the upcoming elections? Does the RNC have any such program in the works? If so, sign me up!

Dear RNC, No gloating or glee, a smile is okay - just keep under the radar and do your own backroom deals TO WIN 2010 and so to OVERTURN EVERYTHING this administration has legislated!! "We can do better!"

Chairman, Thank you for those words. But, I want to know that the men and women standing on the right, will continue to stand up for our rights!!! We are America, We have been ruled by tyranny and we didn't stand for it then and we won't stand for it today. Please, I plead to you. Let's select candidates that stand firm with our values and never again vie a candidate that even leans a little to the left. Conservatism is the core of this party. We can not waiver. In the words of one of the most famous Republican Presidents Abraham Lincoln, "A house divided can not stand". Let's make sure that this house is no longer divided so that we can sure up the foundation of conservatism so that we can rebuild the walls of Liberty for all.

How you define the problem dictates how you will view the answer.

The Rasmussen poll yesterday, shows Brown trailing Coakley by just 2 percentage points. He has come a long way in just a few days, which I'm sure this has not gone unnoticed by the Dems. They understand how much this seat means to their cause and will be funneling big money into Coakley's campaign. Michael, why do I get the feeling that you guys are asleep at the switch on this one? Please help this guy out; this is too important to lose.

Here We Come?! What! You should already be here! YESTERDAY, Republican Steve Hunt LOST the Virgina State Senate seat special election because there was no Republican voter turn out. He lost by 317 votes!....... out of 23,563. How dids the DEMS win? They won with their old "we can cheat the electorate" with 450 ,out of the blue, absentee votes! The Dems are organized! The Republicans were not prepared! The DEM only entered the race 6 weeks ago and didn't even live in the district until he filed as a candidate! Are there no Republican strategists; no lawyers? I fear, Mr. Steele, that under your leadership we will continue to be too little too late.

Perhaps those who read and comment on blogs such as this must be repetitive, but I would like to think that the positions most Conservatives and Republicans hold are at least somewhat consistent. With an extreme unbalance in the make-up of our government, the focus of this Party must be the upcoming mid-term, and special elections. My concern - and motivation - for this post is that I have not seen any mobilization of Conservatives and/or Republicans around any candidates for challengeable Congressional seats. The most glaring example of this lack of action is with the special election for Senate in MA. The significant effect that this one election can have on the makeup and fate of legislation that emerges form this Congress is clear, and yet Mr. Brown is begging for Party-support that should be at the ready. I have heard Mr. Steele speak positively about Republicans retaking seats in Congress, but there has not been enough action, in my opinion, to achieve that goal. My home State of New York will be faced with an election for Hillary Clinton's vacated Senate seat, now held by Sen. Gillibrand. I am reading about potential challengers to Sen. Gillibrand from within her own Party, but have not heard word one about who the Republican challenger will be to this seat. I refuse to believe that the only Republican option, as a candidate to challenge a seat in this state, is Rudy Giuliani. And yet, when there is talk of a such a possibility, it is his name that is only ever mentioned. Can you imagine the significance and energizing effect that Republican Senate victories in both MA and NY would have on the entire country? How can these two elections not be on the front burner of the GOP, and Conservative Party? I am eagerly waiting to see this Party take up the challenge, and target these two races as keys to future Republican Congressional gains. The State of New York, as a whole, has a number of seats, that if targeted effectively, could serve to create tremendous momentum for a return to fiscal conservatism and fundamental Republican positions. I do not know for a fact, if New York is simply chalked up as being a Democratic stalwart, but there are Conservatives and Republicans here who hope that we have not been forgotten. I look forward to the historical election of a Republican to the Senate seat long-held by the first-family of liberal politics in MA; and the reintroduction of a conservative Republican, as a Senator from the great State of New York.

Chairman Steel, can the National Republican party please help my state? I live in Oregon. Can you find someone to run against Wyden? We need him gone! We need our state back. We are about to vote on two measures that would put us in the same tax bracket as Sweden! We have more social programs than "Carter has pills"! What can the national party do to help regain the states?

Mr. Steele, I listened to you on Meet the Press and I agree with you that Senator Reid should step down. Gov. Dean's statement about the comment being in praiser of the President is just down right stupid. You mean that if I'm praising someone I am allowed to use such language. About this years election. I pray that the RNC reviews what the party did back in 1994 to win both the House and the Senate. We need to make these races National and have a firm set of agendas like the ones the GOP had back in 1994. I belive the time is right to capture both the House and the Senate. Americans have found out what "Change" the President is doing and Americans will vote the opposing side to control the President. I for one will take an active role in this years elections. God bless you and this country.
