CLOSED TO PUBLIC, OPEN TO VAT: Obama’s Deficit Commission is meeting again, but this time behind closed doors, likely because Obama probably doesn’t want word to get out about any unpopular tax proposals they might make before the midterms.
UNION BOSSES BONUSES: Despite Democrats claiming their new financial regulation reform bill is designed to protect Americans’ finances, a large portion of the legislation is actually dedicated to bailing out big labor bosses.
AWOL ON WOMEN’S RIGHTS: The UN voted last week to accept Iran as a member of the Commission on the Status of Women despite Tehran’s recent accusation that suntanned women were responsible for earthquakes, and the US ambassador to the UN had no way of objecting because she didn’t even bother to show up.
FRANKIE VS. FREDDIE: Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) recently wrote a letter claiming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had already been fixed, but if Freddie and Fannie are fixed why are they asking for $11 billion more after losing $8 billion last quarter?
RAISING THE WHITE FLAG ON JOBS: Paul Volcker is the just the latest to join a chorus of administration officials admitting that, despite their bloated stimulus package, unemployment will remain unacceptably high for a long time.
OBAMA’S CREDIBILITY GAP WIDENS: From gaffe prone VP Joe Biden’s comments on his trip to Europe to the President’s tough talk on oil company BP, Obama’s credibility gap grows wider and wider.
HONEST ACCOUNTING HYPOCRISY: Last year Obama promised “honest accounting” by calling for an end to war supplementals, but reports are out the Obama administration is eyeing a possible war supplemental to pay for the oil spill bill Obama claimed would be covered by BP.
OBAMACARE STAYS CLASSY: A new report on legislation, the CLASS Act, slipped into the Democrats’ government takeover of health care reveals that will cost much more than originally projected, no wonder Kent Conrad (D-SD) had described it as “a Ponzi scheme of the first order, the kind of thing that Bernie Madoff would have been proud of.”
DEMS’ SUMMER SLUSH FUND: During a hearing on the hill, Treasury Sec. Tim Geithner admitted that Obama’s bank tax, intended to recoup losses from TARP that have already been paid back, could be used to pay for the Dems’ binge spending.
OIL SPILL SPIN: Obama and administration officials are dealing with Gulf of Mexico oil spill in the best way they know how: with an aggressive PR campaign. But we pull the plug on Obama’s oil spill spin.
SILLY KIDS, OBAMACARE IS FOR GROWNUPS: Despite a nice anecdote shared by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on how young adults will now be able to stay on their parents’ health care plan until they’re 26, however that part of the Democrats’ plan won’t become law until 2011.
IS OBAMA ANTI-DENTITE?: President Obama and Congressional Democrats claim their financial reform targeted at reining in the destructive practices of Wall Street, but small businesses, like dentists and orthodontists, are poised to suffer the collateral damage caused by the bill.
ALWAYS LOOK A DEFICIT COMMISSION IN THE MOUTH: Obama claims his Deficit Commission was created with the purpose of bringing down the deficit but Americans aren’t fooled.
