I Can Feel The Groundswell in Virginia…

Today’s elections will determine which direction this country is headed.

All across our country, most Americans oppose government intrusion in their lives, value the importance of faith and family, and honor our military.  They are tired of being taxed too much for a government that delivers too little.  This sentiment is overwhelmingly apparent as I depart NJ and head for VA.

Republicans understand these concerns.  Judging from their choices in policies and leaders, Democrats don’t.  Voters are reminded of this as Democrats seek to expand government, raise taxes, hurt small businesses, and deny school choice (and thus opportunity) to impoverished families victimized by failing schools.

The health care debate highlights the fundamental philosophical differences between Republicans and Democrats.  It is the optimal backdrop to show the American people that competitive markets rather than government bureaucrats will improve and expand health care for more Americans.  Victories in today’s elections will preserve our way of life.

Landing in VA and heading for Richmond…I can feel the groundswell.”

My gut reaction to Dede Scozzafava back in late March was true. She was a fraudulent Republican. When she was nominated by the powers-that-be I almosted vomited, and vowed not to support her. I was prepared to sit this election out. When Mr. Hoffman entered the race I finally had a reason to vote. He stood for all the conservative values the Republicans Party should have had in the first place. The election in NYSD23 did not go to waste. We knocked out Scozzy, and the GOP was put on notice we want more candidates like Mr. Hoffman to run. Don't ever mix an elephant with a donkey again.

Steele I used to be a fan, but your handling of this election process has let me down. You even said that this election process 'wasn't a referendum on Obama?!?!' Have you noticed the polls on conservatism and the Tea Parties? Way to pander to the liberals! You lost my vote EVER. I am tired of Republicans putting up liberal candidates like McCain and Scozzafava. (Especially running ads AGAINST a REAL Conservative!) Why is Reagan such a hard lesson for Republicans? He motivated 'Independents' by showing them that CONSERVATISM is moral and right!! Talk radio motivates people because they are saying and DOING the things that the Republican Party SHOULD BE! Repubs sit silent. I will not donate to the Republicans again until I'm sure they have learned the lesson for real and start pushing for CONSERVATISM. Hey Steele! Pull out your DVR and watch that acceptance speech again from last night in NJ. Listen to WHAT he says. Maybe he should run for President next term. He GETS what the Republicans seem to ignore. Please don't CHANGE him.

Last night at the Marriott in Richmond, VA was interesting. It was good to see folks get excited as much for our clean sweep as they were with NJ. The real excitement around here is for AG Cuccinnelli, he's what the Republican Party should be about, a fine example for others in the party to emulate. Also cudo's to Doug Hoffmann in NY, we were watching with interest, he also has our values and principals. In VA we also brought in 8 new state legislators. I hope the GOP takes notice of what type of politician we are looking for. If you are not sure, touch base with your local 9.12/We Surround Them and Tea Party groups, they will be more than willing to help you find the answer. If the GOP comes back to where they once left, the party will grow strong again.

Today, as I sit and I look at yesterday's elections, I can do nothing but say, "We're sashaying once again, but this time we're making a sashay forward." As Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. said "Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the staircase." We have to have faith, and make our move. Our move forward.

We the people of the GOP are speaking, listen to what we say.No more supporting Democrats in republican clothing. The nasty business in New York should be a lesson learned,we lost that state due to some who still wish to have business as usual. The RNC best look for a nominee to run against Obama now,and the list of characters from the past will not do.Get the individual checked out, make sure conservative ,and a true republican.Get a hands on to the next elections in 2010,old heads are gonna roll.

Shane, I just signed up to be on this site because I learned that the RNC FINALLY put its weight behind Hoffman..too little and too late, after propping up the Democrat-lite, and destroying the chances Hoffman had..but here I am. And I find you have written what I wanted to say. You are absolutely correct. Ann, with all due respect, if you want bigger Federal government, if you want somebody else to reward your bad choices, become a Democrat. If you want a government that saps the free-will of its people and enslaves the ignorant and foolish by offering them a morally hazardous choice, so that instead of choosing to go to school and work hard, many choose to quit school, not work, take money from others, make babies to make more money, and raise the next generation of enslaved people, then be a Democrat. If you want a government that has policies that encourage job growth, which in turn increases Fed, State, County and City tax revenue by the way, through, first and foremost, getting the FEDS OUT OF THE BUSINESS OF MUCKING WITH PRIVATE BUSINESSES, then be a Republican and vote for true Republicans. If you want the kind of government that rewards hard work, and helps only those who CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES BECAUSE THEY ARE DISABLED AND CAN'T EARN ENOUGH, be a Republican. If you want secure borders, a strong military to protect this country so you can stay free, be a Republican. If you want the poor kids to have a true choice on which schools they go to, be a Republican. If you want to be able to save your money toward your own retirement, not pour it into the vast wasteland of Social Security and never see it again, be a Republican. If you want to be able to buy less expensive health insurance outside of the foolishly overregulated health insurance options your States force on you, be a Republican. If you want CHOICE in your life, be a Republican. Rather, I should say, be a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN. The Repub party fooled me, I thought I was voting for FISCALLY CONSERVATIVE, LIBERTARIAN STYLE Repubs in 2000 and 2004. I thought that once 9/11 was dealt with, and there was no other term to "run for" that the RNC leadership and President would stand up and actually do all the above, and certainly reverse the absurd growth in Fed govt happening... They didn't. They caved over and over with the leftist agenda ( except, thank God, finally waking up to WIN in Iraq, for which I will forever bless them). That is why they lost in 2006, and in 2008. They became basically Democrats, except in Iraq. They brought us a nominee for President who was, and is, to the left of JFK. They stopped defending me and my Republican principals, embarrassed that I was in the party. They put my money behind RINOS and actively fought my candidates. I quit. There was no party left for me. The Republican party has to remember who and what it is supposed to be. It works, every single time, for America when we remember to limit our Feds and its laws and taxation to the original intent of our Founders ( who were right-wing extremists by today's reckoning). If it wakes up and runs more ads like I heard a couple days ago re-claiming CONSERVATIVE ACTIONS And linking them to the RESULTS AMERICANS WANT, if they throw their weight behind more Hoffmans, sooner, clearly, and vociferously, then I will start sending my money again. It was too little too late for Hoffman, it let Skuzzy-whatever her name is, split the vote by quitting far too late then THROWING HER WEIGHT BEHIND A FAR LEFT DEM. No more, Mr. Steele. Go back to what I supported in you when you ran for Governor. Be proud of us, the Americans who would have been fighting with the founders against the Monarchy.

I saw Chairman Steele on "Morning Joe" this morning, commenting on the victories in VA and NJ. Lawrence O'Donnell tried to put his 2 cents in, but Chairman Steele "owned" little liberal Lawrence...Proud of the way you handled yourself, Chairman, in that situation! You put him in his place!

It's a bit hard to swallow Mr. Steele's words in light of the GOP pick of Scozzafava and the values she stood for. If the GOP would have made the correct selection to begin with, we could have added to the Republican victory. Not words, Mr. Steele, action.

Mr. Chairman, It should be clear to you now that the largest problem facing the GOP is the disaffection of true conservatives who hold the key to the party's future. The party has expended far too much time, money and energy courting constituencies who have been locked into the Democrat fold for decades. To persuade these special interest groups, the GOP has adopted the Democrats' insidious habit of attempting to buy votes using taxpayer money. Nothing could violate conservative principles more effectively. The GOP should hold to the principles of lower taxes for all (unapologetically including 'the rich' since they pay most of the taxes as it is), less gov't spending, more economic opportunity, stronger national security and an adherence to the Constitution and the teachings of the Founding Fathers. There should be no room for the Dede Scozzafavas of the world. Democrats are attempting to portray the GOP as narrow-minded and exclusionary, with no tolerance for moderates. When moderates support foolishness like Cap and Trade and Card Check, I agree we should have no tolerance for them. The GOP should stop supporting candidates who espouse redistributive policies of any kind. If we don't, we are really no better than the Democrats who are working overtime to bring socialism to America. Brian Squire

My husband and I are former Republicans because of the way the RNC has started leaning left in its attempts to "attract" new members. What happened in NY today is a travesty and a warning to the RNC. Stop pushing middle of the road faux Republicans and start supporting true conservatives or the RNC's days are most definitely numbered. If I had donated money to the RNC I would be demanding it back. You gave money to a liberal Democrat posing as a Republican. And the RNC is pushing Liberals in republican clothing all over the USA. In CA Fiorini and Whitman. A choice between a Democrat and a "RHINO" is no choice at all. Wake up before it is too late and save the RNC from a sure demise.
