We Hear Your Voice…And Thank You For It

Tuesday’s results made it official: The GOP grassroots base is back, motivated and not to be messed with…

In my first blog post since yesterday’s victories in both Virginia and New Jersey, I want to thank you—the voters, the supporters, the grassroots…everyone who stood up for our Country and said no, this is not the direction for America.  You took the first step in getting our Country back on track.

On the ground campaigning, I could see it your faces and hear it in your voices…the frustration, the conviction, the certainty.  America heard you and your conservative voices resonated.

Because of your efforts, the Republican Party is once again a bottom-up party.  The Republican Party has once again found its voice.  The great candidates that won last night shared your vision and heard your message.  You energized behind these core Republican conservative principles and candidates and rejected the failed Democrat policies.

Because of your efforts, we are now positioned to show new strength as a Party moving forward.  Republicans will take that momentum into the 2010 mid-term elections and beyond.

You did not waver in your convictions...and the Republican Party will be guided by and through this voice.  I thank you, the grassroots.

Mr Steele: I see you complained about McCain's effort at campaign finance reform. Well, if a reform cuts off funds to beth sides it can't be all bad. Why not a ban on donations from all ORGANIZATIONS ? Require that money come from individuals, that such individuals affirm that they are donating their own money and have not been reimbursed by others, and that candidates report all donations promptly? Simple? Donations through any organization simply shield the identity of those buying our elected officials. Of course you'd object that the parties couldn't donate either. that's not a bad thing. Let the parties speak to the issues and the people speak to the choice of elected officials. Parties don't endorse prior to conventions/primarys. Just extend that practice to the general election. Why not, Mr Chairman?

Mr. Steele, I just saw you on Neil Cavota and I was left feeling very uncertain as to whether you have a clear understanding of the Tea Party. I am a registered Republican, but simply because I can't vote in the NY State Primary as an Independent. I have lost all trust in even the Republican politicians, except for a few, that are currently serving in Congress. The Republicans are not longer the fiscal conservative party of years gone by. The introduce as much pork in to bills as every other legislature. They have the same "pack" mentality as the Democrats, instead of representing the constituents that voted them into office. My hope is the the Tea Party movement will generate candidates from within the movement to run for office, probably as Republicans, and will move the entrenched politicians out. We need people representing us in Washington that say what they mean (not what they think will get them votes) and mean what they say. I know how naive that sounds but, the time has come. We need people who are willing to do the work to reverse the direction that this country has taken over the past 20 years. We need to incentivize people to work again, get rid of government buracracies like the IRS, Department of Education, etc. We need to stop the deceptive taxing practices like Social Security, gasoline, etc. only to find out the monies have been used for everything EXCEPT what the tax was levied for. It's not the policies or platform of the Republican AND Democratic parties are that are objectionable, it's their practices. That is what I believe the Tea Party represents.

The 5 Republican Senators who vote for the 447 billion dollar bill over the weekend this is for you as well as the rest of the Republicans. "Unless, you don't stop acting like one of them, and start acting like a Conservative, we will rise up with a new revitalized party and we will not be merciful." Start doing what we tell you to do or we will fire you. This is ridiculous, I never wanted to see the day when a Republican became a lunatic with the Democrats on these pieces of pork-barrel legislation. We are sick of it, and we aren't the silent majority anymore, we are the forceful awoken majority. And we are a giant. Start making Conservatives and Republicans interchangeable instead of broadening the gap.

Mr. Steele, I hope you are reading the comments. I have been a fan of yours for years. 2 points: 1) the republicans have to do something about CLIMATEGATE!!! MSM won't cover it, but the folks out here get it! 2) THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS AN IMMENSE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE BACK THE YOUTH VOTE HERE because of the stupidity of democrat votes for "health care" and deficit spending. I have seen polls already in some states where the youth vote is MORE in opposition to Obama now than the rest of the electorate. Kids may be liberals now on social issues after 16 years of left wing brainwashing but the combination of fraud behind CLIMATEGATE, the boondoggle of health care, and the destruction of their lives with democrat spending will drive them back to republicans if you guys will just get to them with the message! Please target young audiences with advertising..thanks. Next, I need to point out that at times the small libertarian vote of 3% has meant the margin of victory that went to a democrat in Congress. You guys have got to get on board with and retrieve the Libertarian vote. The Libertarians in the country are growing at your expense because you don't sound Libertarian enough and yet that is the natural constituency of the Republicans. A whole lot the independents are Libertarian americans who don't belong to a wacky Libertarian party. You guys at the RNC have got to get serious and get your damned act together because our country is under siege and led by a complete incompetent in a very dangerous world. This is not silly partisanship and party gameplaying guys. Our world is getting more dangerous by the day under this president. Help!

I too am tired of the surveys that ask meaningless questions in order to ask for money. I am tired of being told how "I have moved away from the party" The party moved away from me starting with amnesty programs and continuing through attacking conservatives. I will not be contributing to the party as a whole but to those candidates which support the conservative choice. You folks moved, not me. You want my money you will have to come to me, not vice versa.

Wake up.... N.Y.~~Va. elections were the results of tea partiers; not the RNC. Those battles were against big government; government intervention; for the Constitution. Haw can that be seen as a GOP victory? I've voted Republican since before you were ten years old; I know what it is to be Republican and I don't think the RNC has any idea.................

Mr. Steele, It's clearly time for the GOP to close its primaries. We do not need the opposition choosing our candidates like they did with the utter fiasco that was John Mcain. Ignore these so called Republicans insisting on appeasing the "moderates" and "independants". The GOP only wins landslides when a true conservative is the candidate.

I believe that the RNC drags down our party every time they support a liberal. They should encourage and support conservative candidates. That said, for the next 3 years, the party needs to focus on fiscal, rather than social issues. _ on another subject,: I am disturbed by the quote reported at Politico. _ http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1109/29341.html _ By ANDY BARR | 11/9/09 5:55 PM EST Michael Steele: Some white GOP 'scared of me' _ Please, Mr. Steele, show me how this quote was taken out of context. I was happy when you were nominated as RNC chairman, but this is not what I would call effective GOP activism. For the life of me, I can not understand how a comment like this helps the GOP. I would have expected you to say something like "oh, no. That is just a small part of the GOP", instead of agreeing so quickly with the host. If you believe this to be a big problem in the GOP, please work within the party to correct it. Don't say one thing to black audiences and another to white audiences. Is is possible that they are afraid you are less conservative than they are, rather than your skin color? When I saw the clip, I felt like I was kicked in the b**ls.

Mr. Steele, From where I sit, the key to major Republican gains in the 2010 elections is to appeal to moderates and independents. I see comments on this site demanding "true conservative" candidates. That is a losing strategy. My hope is that Democrats will nominate "true liberals", and Republicans will be able to appeal to the majority in the middle. It is also critical to focus on the economy, and not on social issues. I know social issues generate a lot of interest, but most people are far more concerned about jobs, inflation, health care costs and the federal deficit. The Democrats have fumbled on those issues so far. If you listen to the voices of the right wing, and back only right wing candidates, we are in for another round of Democrat control.

Now that the elections in Virginia and NJ are over, the GOP needs to build the base for next years election. Here in Northern California, there's a lot of frustration at the democrats, but unfortunately the gop is nowhere to be found to fill the vacuum. I say the GOP put ads in People magazine, internet ads, and the local leftist newspapers to: 1) State the GOP beliefs and proposals, 2) ASK people if they agree, to change their party registration, and most importantly 3) challenge people to listen in on the Rush Limbaugh show: He is the most effective and most articulate person for the GOP cause. Once people listen for one or two shows, it is likely that their perceptions will change and that they will realize that the MSM lied to them. IMHO, PaulfromCal
