WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:

“Each March we celebrate National Women’s History Month and this year marks the 30th anniversary of this momentous occasion. More than 160 years have passed since the historic Women’s Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, New York when over 250 female pioneers met to discuss the status of civil, social, and religious rights concerning women. While this convention was not large in size, its results proved to be significant as the Women’s Rights Movement was born and ultimately led to the passage of the 19th amendment 72 years later. Because of these events women have seized their opportunity to help transform our country not only in the boardroom and the classroom, but also refusing to sit on the sidelines as they train to protect us on the frontlines. While there are still areas of the world where women continue to struggle for equal rights, it is important that we ... more

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:

“March marks a time where we honor the national observance of Irish-American Heritage Month. For over two centuries, Irish-Americans have played an integral role in the development of American culture. From their commitment to serving as leaders in their communities to their work as entrepreneurs and private business owners, America is truly indebted to the millions of Irish-Americans who made their home here. I am honored to celebrate this important time for Irish-Americans as we thank them for their tremendous service and contributions to our country.”

WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today:

“Since 1943, our country has recognized the month of March as Red Cross Month. Founded in 1881, the mission of the Red Cross has been largely dependent on the support of volunteers to help provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

“President Reagan reminds us that “No matter how big and powerful government gets, and the many services it provides, it can never take the place of volunteers.” As we salute the American Red Cross and those who support this great cause, I invite you to participate in the RNC's national blood drive initiative “I Give Republican Red”. For more information about this project and how you can support the American Red Cross, please click here.”
