Vice President Joe Biden was in Detroit, Michigan today charging audience goers up to $5,000 a piece, admission for the pleasure of hearing the same old tired stimulus stump speech.
Biden told his audience that the stimulus “is working.”
Remember, this is a state whose unemployment rate is already the highest in the nation at 15.3% and has only climbed steadily since February when the stimulus was signed into law.
Biden added that the administration and Democrat-controlled Congress “get it.”
The truth is, not only does the White House and Democrats not “get it,” they have no idea what to do in order to create jobs and have been soliciting new ideas.
Last Monday, the president held a meeting with his economic recovery board to discuss the answer to the question, in his words, “how are we going to make sure that people are getting back to work.” He then added the obvious, “we just are not where we need to be yet.”
In mid October, House Speaker Pelosi convened her own forum with economic experts “focusing specifically on the creation of jobs.”
The fact that the Democrats are soliciting ideas for job creation now does not inspire a lot of confidence in Biden’s claims today that the stimulus “is working” or that Democrats do “get it.”
Not only does the WH not “get it.”
Democrat Reps. Gary Peters and Mark Schauer, the benefactors of today’s fundraiser, do not “get it” either.
As an earlier RNC research post points out, both Michigan Democrats voted for a stimulus that hasn’t created jobs in Michigan, a cap and trade bill which will only cost additional Michigan jobs and now a health care bill which will raise taxes on Michigan’s small businesses.
