West Virginia Governor’s Race Not Looking Good…Because Of Obama…

Obama Drags Down Democrat In West Virginia Governor’s Race. From WaPo: “President Obama’s unpopularity is threatening Democrats’ hold on the governor’s mansion in West Virginia. Sources close to Tuesday’s special election for the remaining year on now-Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) term as governor say the race continues to move in favor of Republican nominee Bill Maloney, who appears to be winning over the many undecided voters in the state. The race is now looking more and more like a toss-up, though Democrats remain confident they will pull it out in the end. Regardless of where operatives come down on the final results, both agree that the reason for its narrowing is simple: Obama.” http://wapo.st/oBUcR2

Obama’s 2008 Besties Won’t Be By His Side In Missouri…

McCaskill Won't Be In Missouri For Obama Visit. From The Hill: “McCaskill, a fiscally conservative Democrat who took her seat from a Republican in 2006 by a slim margin, is considered one of the most vulnerable senators up for reelection in 2012. She was an early supporter of Obama during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary. Yet her chances for reelection hinge on her ability to distance herself from Obama and portray herself as an independent voice for Missouri who is willing to buck the national Democratic party.” http://bit.ly/npJP3W

More Blue State Blues…Obama Under 50 Percent In His Home State

President Obama's Job Approval Rating Drops Below 50% in Home State Of Illinois. From Fox Chicago: “President Obama’s job approval rating has fallen below 50 percent among registered voters in Illinois. As he seeks re-election in 2012, it’s a sign of potential trouble in the state where he launched his political career, won a series of landslide victories and still maintains a home. The President would win handily in head-to-head matchups against all the leading Republican candidates. But he’s falling 10 to 12 percentage points short of his 2008 performance, when Mr. Obama crushed Republican John McCain in Illinois, 62 to 37 percent. … The President retains strong support in Chicago, his adopted hometown, where 78 percent of registered voters approved the job he’s doing. But registered voters have turned negative in Downstate Illinois (where only 39 percent approve) and in the five suburban collar counties surrounding Chicago (43 percent approved, 55 percent disapproved.)” http://bit.ly/r5PfyY

Is America Better Off After His Presidency? Obama Says No…

They Said It! Obama Admits Americans Are Not Better Off Than They Were Four Years Ago.  ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos: “There are so many people who simply don’t think they are better off than they were four years ago. How do you convince them that they are?” President Barack Obama: “Well I don’t think they are better off than they were four years ago. They’re not better off than they were before Lehman’s collapse, before the financial crisis, before this extraordinary recession that we’re going through.” (ABC News/Yahoo News’ Live Interview, 10/3/11) http://bit.ly/nVoCYV

Obama Doesn’t Regret Solyndra…Says It Was A Good Bet…

Obama On Solyndra: 'Hindsight Is Always 20/20.' From ABC News: “President Obama told ABC News Monday that he does not regret touting the solar company Solyndra as a model of his jobs program, or loaning $535 million in taxpayer money to the company before it declared bankruptcy. "Hindsight is always 20/20," Obama told ABC Good Morning America anchor George Stephanopoulos in an interview broadcast online Monday. "It went through the regular review process and people felt that it was a good bet." …The emails were released by Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee Monday to emphasize that no government decisions relating to Solyndra were influenced by considerations relating to campaign donations. However, the emails also show for the first time that a major donor had access to top presidential advisers on matters concerning the loan program.

Direct Line To WH For Donors Established…Donor’s Warned Obama 2 Days Before Solyndra Visit…

Donor, Officials Warned Obama Not To Visit Solyndra After Financial Warnings.  From the Washington Post: “A Silicon Valley investor and senior administration officials warned the White House to reconsider having President Obama visit a solar start-up company because of its mounting financial problems, saying he might be embarrassed later. “A number of us are concerned that the president is visiting Solyndra,” California investor and Obama fundraiser Steve Westly wrote to Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett in May 2010. ‘Many of us believe the company’s cost structure will make it difficult for them to survive long term. ... I just want to help protect the president from anything that could result in negative or unfair press.’”  http://wapo.st/pZpC8n
