Transparency?
This afternoon President Obama signed an executive order supposedly to prevent federally-funded abortions. When asked why the signing was in seclusion from the press, Robert Gibbs explained that the White House photographer would be taking a photo of the President signing the Executive Order which would then be released. In response to press concerns about the closed event, Gibbs’ only answer was “you’ll have a nice picture.”
This is a far cry from the President who came in to office claiming that his “administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness is government,” (Memorandum to Heads of Executive Departments and Administrations). Instead of the openness he promised, the American people have seen nothing from this President but backroom deals and secret lawmaking.

Uncomfortable
Last night President Obama had a closed-press meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After several questions regarding why the meeting had been closed-press, Gibbs stated that “we were comfortable with last night’s coverage.” What coverage was there to be comfortable with?

Focus on Jobs
“The President has been focusing on jobs since day one,” claimed Gibbs after being asked about what the President was going to focus on next.
If the President has been focusing on jobs, then why have 7,617 Americans a day lost their jobs since he started talking about his government-run health care experiment? Maybe instead of increasing the size of our government and our national debt, the President should have been focused on how to get the American people back to work. If this is what happens when the President focuses on jobs, maybe he should try focusing on something else.
