"In front of 200,000 fans and a worldwide audience Jamie McMurray won the Great American Race.   I congratulate McMurray on his tremendous accomplishment.  McMurray won the 52nd Daytona 500 besting 42 other racers equally determined to climb out of the cockpit, claim racings greatest title and cement his place in history among NASCAR legends. McMurray withstood the challenges, grueling conditions and mental trials that make the Daytona 500 the Great American Race and a great American tradition."
