WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced its fundraising numbers for December 2009.

The RNC raised $6.6 million in the month of December from contributions and has $8.4 million cash-on-hand with $0 debt.  This brings the RNC’s 2009 year-end total to $81.3 million raised.  The average contribution to the RNC during 2009 was $39.84.  Currently the RNC has 1.19 million active donors and has amassed 370,000 new donors throughout 2009, both off-year records.

“On behalf of the Republican National Committee, I personally thank every individual who has contributed to the RNC this year, helping to make it one of the most successful off-year fundraising efforts in committee history.  The Republican victories in Virginia and New Jersey in 2009, and Scott Brown’s dramatic, come-from-behind win in Massachusetts, could not have been possible without the tremendous support the RNC receives from its solid base of donors.  The loyal support of hard working Americans is what makes spectacular victories like Scott Brown’s possible.  As we move into the political battles facing the Republican Party in 2010, I am confident that the RNC will have the funds necessary to help state parties and candidates across the country mount their own successful campaigns and bring the American people the representation they are clearly demanding.” – RNC Chairman Michael Steele
