WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced its fundraising numbers for October 2009.

The RNC raised an off-year record of $8.79 million in the month of October and has $11.2 million cash-on-hand with $0 debt.  The RNC averaged 2,543 new donors per day in October and had an average contribution of $32.  By the end of October, the RNC topped one million active donors.  As of November 11th, the RNC has already broken its own record of new donors in an off year, with 305,000 new donors so far in 2009.

“I am extremely pleased that the Republican National Committee continues to show solid fundraising numbers, and we are grateful to the countless Americans who have contributed to our Party.  The elections in Virginia and New Jersey clearly showed the American people oppose bigger government, reckless federal spending, and higher taxes, and this enthusiasm for common-sense Republican principles is strongly resonating with our generous and motivated donors.  Thanks to our many contributors, the RNC is on solid financial footing as we continue build an organization to support our candidates and state parties in the election of 2010 and beyond,” said RNC Chairman Michael Steele.
