WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) today announced a new radio ad on Vice President Biden’s and Sen. Harry Reid’s failed economic experiment. The radio ad will run Thursday and Friday in the Reno media market.
“Last February, Senator Harry Reid was a lead proponent of the economic stimulus experiment that he and President Obama promised would create jobs and get Nevada’s economy back on track. Unfortunately, since the day that the president signed this failed experiment into law, Nevada’s unemployment rate has grown by more than 30 percent. The people of Nevada deserve an explanation from Senator Reid – not Vice President Biden’s rose colored projections, on when this so-called stimulus experiment will actually start putting Nevadans back to work.” – RNC Chairman Michael Steele.

Reid Said “Our Number One Goal Is To Pass” Stimulus Bill. “With President Barack Obama saying ‘the time for action is now,’ his fellow Democrats in the Senate on Thursday pushed toward passage of a huge economic stimulus package despite scant Republican support. ‘Our number one goal is to pass this bill,’ Reid told reporters. ‘They (the Republicans) cannot hold the president of the United States hostage.’” (Thomas Ferraro and Susan Cornwell, “Democrats Push Vote Of Huge U.S. Stimulus Plan,” Reuters, 2/5/09)

Harry Reid, “Reid: Economic Recovery Package Will Create Nevada Jobs, Help Struggling Families And Strengthen The Economy,” Press Release, 2/17/09)
Biden Claimed Stimulus Will “Create Tens Of Thousands” Of New Jobs. “[T]he signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act represents an incredibly strong first step in, at least in my view, along this long and difficult road to recovery ... we’re making an unprecedented investment in this country, in the recovery of this country ... that will be able to create tens of thousands, over time, of good, high-paying jobs ...” (Vice President Joe Biden, Remarks Of The Vice President At The First Meeting Of The Middle Class Task Force, Philadelphia, PA, 2/2/709)

Reid Voted For Obama-Biden Budget That Creates $9.1 Trillion Deficit Over Next Decade, Nearly Amount Of Debt America Has Accrued In Its Entire History Up To July 2008 ($9.5 Trillion). (S. Con. Res. 13, Record Vote Number 173, Passed 53-43: 4/29/09; “An Analysis Of The President’s Budgetary Proposals For Fiscal Year 2010,” Congressional Budget Office, June 2009; Public Debt, www.treasurydirect.gov, Accessed 7/20/09)
Reid Wants To Push Obama-Biden National Energy Tax “As Quickly As We Can.” “The legislation introduced by Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and John Kerry (D-Mass.) calls for a 20 percent emissions cut by 2020, tougher than the 17 percent cut the House bill that narrowly passed in late June called for, and a greater than 80 percent cut by 2050 … [Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)] said … ‘I’m very impressed with the fact that we need to do a climate bill just as quickly as we can.’” (Michael O’Brien, “Senate Climate Bill Aims For M ore Aggressive Targets Than House,” The Hill’s “Blog Briefing Room“ Blog, 9/29/09)
Senate Dems Reid Leads Forge Ahead With “Employee Free Choice Act.” “A key Senate negotiator trying to advance a contentious union-organizing bill said a modified version could pass the upper chamber this year ... Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) is one of a half-dozen senators trying to craft a compromise on the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), which if passed would make union organizing much easier ... Brown expressed confidence that Congress will at some point move the union bill -- if not this year, then next -- saying senators have made progress on negotiating a new version of the bill.” (Kevin Bogardus, “Key Dems Confident Card-Check Will Pass,” The Hill, 10/1/09)
Obama-Biden Aides, Reid Writing Final Government-Run Health Care Bill Behind Closed Doors. “It’s the invite that every senator with an opinion on health care wants to get: a reserved seat at the conference table where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will merge two competing reform bills. But most of them won’t get in. Reid’s guest list will be an exclusive one. Reid has decided to keep the group intimate, limiting entree to Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.); Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), who ushered the bill through the Senate health committee ... The merger, which will unfold across Reid’s suite of offices, should take a week, sources said. White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, White House Director of Health Reform Nancy-Ann DeParle and perhaps budget director Peter Orszag will represent the president, sources said.” (Carrie Budoff Brown, “Members Jockey For Seat At Reid’s Table,” Politico, 10/7/09)
