WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele released the following statement today following the Florida primary results:

“I want to congratulate Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and all the Republican nominees who won their primaries this evening.

“Marco Rubio is a principled candidate whose commitment to limited government and fiscal restraint will serve as a much needed check and balance to the Democrats’ reckless spending. Rubio is the only candidate in the Florida Senate race Floridians can trust to stand up to the big-government agenda that the Obama-Reid-Pelosi Democrat leadership continues to try to ram through Congress.

“Rick Scott is a strong conservative candidate for Governor, who will no doubt be victorious against liberal Democrat Alex Sink, who has supported President Obama in everything from his government takeover of health care to his failed $862 billion stimulus. I’m confident that Floridians will rally behind all of our Republican nominees, and that we will see many GOP victories throughout the entire state of Florida in November.”
