When trying to steamroll opposition to their government-run health care experiment, Democrats, most recently HHS Sec. Kathleen Sebelius on Sunday, say 15,000 people lose their health coverage every day. Matt Smith at CNN.com looked into this claim and found that it doesn’t quite prove what the Administration thinks it does.
The claim is based on the number of people losing their jobs, what proportion of them got insurance through their jobs, and then determining how many people lose their health care because they lost their jobs. This leads to problems, because as Smith wrote, “the figure Sebelius cited was based on the rapid growth of unemployment at the depths of the recent recession and is most likely out of date.”
But the real objection is much more fundamental. If people are losing their insurance because they’re losing their jobs, then shouldn’t Washington focus on job creation instead of taking over the health care system? After all, if you’ve lost your job, your lost wages ... more

… and what you’ll see is a red ink tsunami coming soon. Late on Friday afternoon, CBO came out with their analysis of the president’s budget where they found that the ten year deficit caused by the President’s spending plan will be $1.2 trillion higher than what the administration estimated. According to CBO, Obama’s binge spending will result in a ten year deficit of $9.76 trillion.
But back in November, the White House pledged it would “pivot” its focus toward deficit reduction. Here’s what Politico reported on November 13, 2009:
President Barack Obama plans to announce in next year’s State of the Union address that he wants to focus extensively on cutting the federal deficit in 2010 … according to top aides involved in the planning.
So much for that “pivot.” Instead of dealing with what’s being described as “unsustainable” deficits that’s setting “runaway records,” Obama is still pushing his $2.5 trillion government-run health care plan that will bust the budget. As we showed ... more

President Obama is headed to Philadelphia this morning to campaign for his government-run health care experiment, even though the American people have rejected it time and time again. It’s ironic that Obama is pushing his government takeover of health care in the birthplace of liberty because the Democrats’ bill will infringe every Americans’ liberty by restricting health care choices, invading privacy and taxing more income to pay for another unsustainable entitlement, all of which are outlined in this morning’s research briefing: “Restricting Freedom In Liberty’s Birthplace.”
To save time, Obama will also be stumping for Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA), who faces tough primary and general election races. Unfortunately for Sen. Specter, it’s his ties to Obama and his incredibly unpopular health care experiment that are dragging him down, “savaging” his hopes for re-election.
