That’s what Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) said Craig Becker would do if the Senate confirmed President Obama’s nominee to the very powerful National Labor Relations Board. And that’s why Nelson pledged to vote against Becker, with Senate Democrats planning to bring his nomination to a vote on the floor today.
Why would Becker be bad for the NLRB? One week ago, we introduced you to Becker, a lawyer for the AFL-CIO and SEIU, and showed you how and why he wants to “rig the rules in favor of unionization.” And even though Becker claimed during his nomination hearing in the Senate HELP committee last week that he would “respect the will of Congress” if confirmed to the NLRB, Becker has every intention of using the NLRB’s rule-making power to implement union boss-favored job-killing agenda items without Congressional approval.
In this morning’s research briefing, we use Becker’s own words to show that he’ll go to any length to give an unfair advantage to labor union bosses over job creators:
This November, voters will not only remember the job-killing, binge spending policies Congressional Democrats voted for; they’ll also remember the type of people they wanted in powerful government positions. And Craig Becker will be just another reason for Americans to vote Republican.
