Democrats Try To Obscure Their Attempts To Ration Care

November 2009

People around the country have been criticizing the Obama Administration’s new recommendations for limiting annual mammograms.  RNC Co-Chairman Jan Larimer has written forcefully on the issue, and she and Chairman Steele wrote a letter to the President on the issue.

Even though Congresswoman Debbier Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) is an outspoken opponent of these new mammogram regulations, she is just as outspoken in her support of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid government takeover of health care.  On ABC’s “This Week,” she tried to argue that the health care experiment she champions wouldn’t lead to the rationing she dislikes, but she couldn’t argue against the facts as host George Stephanopoulos read the text of the bill just passed by the House, showing how it directly empowers the panel which made these mammogram regulations to set mandatory coverage requirements for every plan in the whole country.

But it was Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) who stole the show with his dead-on description of the problem with these regulations, and the bill overall: “From a patient standpoint, they’re atrocious. And that’s the problem with a bureaucracy stepping in between a physician and their patient.”
