Democrats in Congress, led by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, are continuing their drive to negotiate their health care bill in secret, away from the prying eyes of the American public.
News broke yesterday that Senate Democrats are pushing for the two chambers to bypass the conference committee process in favor of “an informal agreement between top Democrats as a way to avoid further parliamentary delays.” In other words, they want to lock Republicans out of the room so they can go faster.
Yet, here's what President Obama said about the importance of transparency and inclusiveness at a town hall meeting in August 2008:
"I'm going to have all the negotiations around a big table. We'll have doctors and nurses and hospital administrators. Insurance companies, drug companies -- they'll get a seat at the table, they just won't be able to buy every chair.
