The verdict rendered by the American people on Election Day was clear – Nancy Pelosi is a failed Speaker of the U.S. House and her agenda was wrong for our country.
The judgment of the people was so loud and clear that more than 60 seats in the U.S. House swung into Republican hands, a midterm election margin of victory not seen since 1938.
Yet Nancy Pelosi has yet to take the hint. Now, even members of her own caucus are joining in as centrist Democrats are reportedly joining together in an effort to target Pelosi’s lieutenants in upcoming congressional leadership elections.
These members see clearly that it was Pelosi’s failed leadership that opened the door for the historic Republican gains two weeks ago. Instead of focusing on creating jobs, Pelosi joined with the Obama White House to spend most of the past year working to enact a federal takeover of health care by any means necessary.
And despite spending hundreds of billions of dollars, unemployment has lingered at nearly 10 percent for more than 16 consecutive months. The stimulus plans developed by the Pelosi Congress and the Obama White House created more debt than jobs, and are a chief reason the nation now faces more than $13 trillion in total national debt.
It is clear now to almost everyone that Pelosi’s agenda was rejected by the American people. Only Nancy Pelosi herself refuses to take the hint. So long as that remains the case, her party will remain in the minority in the U.S. House of Representatives and the American people will continue to look to Republicans for solutions to the challenges we face.
