The Obama Administration is offering more and more evidence that its federal takeover of health care is flawed to the core and failing the American people.
Last month, the federal Department of Health and Human Services granted several dozen waivers from provisions in ObamaCare to unions and large corporations who reported that the federal health bill could cause them to revoke health coverage from thousands of their employees due to cost concerns.
Now, the Obama Administration is offering more and more waivers in an effort to stem the public backlash against Medicare. Federal officials have now granted 111 different waivers to employers and unions, affecting the coverage of about 1.2 million Americans. There is little doubt that the number of waiver applications will continue to increase as employers and insurers learn more about the skyrocketing costs ObamaCare will create.
These waivers expose the deep and fundamental flaws in ObamaCare. It was shoved into law without bipartisan cooperation, and against the wishes of a majority of the American people. There should be little surprise that a bill that was passed without even being read by many of the members of Congress who voted for it is now turning out to be deeply flawed and unworkable.
And while more and more waivers will surely be granted to unions and corporate insurers, there is little doubt who will be left out in the cold. There will surely be no waivers granted by the Obama Administration to the people who have to pay the tab for this health takeover – the American taxpayers.
