Bill Armistead
State Chairman
Bill Armistead was elected as the State Chairman of Alabama in February 2011. He has been a delegate to the 1996, 2000, 2004, and 2012 Republican National Conventions and was a Presidential Elector in 1996. As a former State Senator and Senate Republican Leader, he is heavily involved in the political world and has previously served as a member and Vice Chairman of the Alabama Executive Committee, Regional Director for Tim James for Governor, Chief Economic Advisor to Governor Guy Hunt, and a member of the Shelby County GOP Executive Committee. Armistead is a businessman and was most recently an executive with Fortune 500 company Fidelity National Information Services, Inc . Other companies he has worked for include McDonnell Douglas, Inc., Saunders System, Inc., Hanna Steel Corporation and SBS Corporation. As a strong member of his community, Armistead has served on the Board of Directors for the Eagle Forum and the Salvation Army; he was on the Advisory Board for Samford University’s School of Business, and an Elder for Briarwood Presbyterian Church. He currently resides in Columbiana, AL with his wife, Emily. They have two adult children and five grandchildren.
