ICYMI: Chairman Priebus: “A ‘Fine’ Case Against President Obama”

Excerpts from Real Clear Politics

“President Obama’s Friday press conference was both revealing and disturbing. It was also a service to voters: it further sharpened the contrast between him and Gov. Romney-the contrast between someone who doesn’t understand how the economy works and someone who does.

‘The private sector is doing fine,’ President Obama began. ‘Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government.’

“This was no accidental gaffe or misstatement. President Obama actually believes we should spend more taxpayer money and more borrowed money from China for the very sort of big government programs that have failed for the last three and a half years…

“Time and again, President Obama has said more government is the answer to our weak economy. And time and again, it proves to be the wrong answer…

“For three and a half years, big government has stood in the way of true economic recovery, making it harder for businesses to hire and for families to make ends meet. Regulations stifle small businesses and job creators; massive debt threatens our long-term fiscal health…

“Government is all Obama really knows. He’s never run a business or had to make payroll. He hasn’t even seen the inside of a lemonade stand.

“Blinded by ideology and inexperience, he cannot see that government spending is not the answer. He cannot see that his policies have failed, and that the private sector is far from fine…

“President Obama knows how to grow government, but it’s the economy-and the private sector-that we need to grow … only Gov. Romney is prepared to make that happen.”
