RNC Launches Web Video on Three Year Anniversary of Obama’s Stimulus
WASHINGTON – The Republican National Committee (RNC) released a new web video “The Promise That Became a Punch Line” on the three year anniversary of Barack Obama signing his “Stimulus” plan. The video chronicles the promise Barack Obama made with the Stimulus to keep unemployment below 8 percent and create millions of jobs. Unfortunately, three years later, twelve million unemployed Americans don’t consider this a laughing matter.

“Three years ago today, President Obama signed his ‘Stimulus’ into law, and it’s clear, by Obama’s own standards, that his signature economic plan has been an abject failure,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“The president promised the nearly trillion dollar Stimulus would ‘immediately’ produce millions of ‘shovel-ready’ jobs. Yet, last year, President Obama admitted what was already obvious: those jobs ‘were not as shovel-ready as we expected.’ Furthermore, he promised the unemployment rate would not exceed 8 percent, yet 36 months later we’ve seen the longest period of high unemployment since the Great Depression.”
“Today’s anniversary is hardly worth celebrating, but it does serve as an important reminder of how desperately we need to change direction. Thankfully, that new direction will come in November.”
