RNC Statement on the December Jobs Report
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the December jobs report:
“Today’s jobs report, though offering some good news, shows unemployment remains much too high and we are recovering much too slowly. America should not be applauding months of near 8 percent unemployment,” said Chairman Priebus. “In this new year, our nation’s top priority must be cutting spending and reducing the debt to produce the stable environment for job creation we so badly need.
“The specter of ruinous debt discourages hiring at a time when far too many of our fellow citizens are out of work. Pro-growth tax reform, entitlement reform, and deficit reduction are critical to our long-term prosperity and to building the future our children deserve.
“President Obama can no longer avoid the types of spending cuts he has consistently ducked through his first term. For our part, Republicans remain committed to advancing the principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets.”
