RNC Statement on the February Unemployment Report
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the February unemployment report:
“Today’s jobs report brings good news for those who have returned to the work force, and we celebrate that. But we must recognize that America must do better than 7.7 percent unemployment. There is still more work to be done. Too many American families are living paycheck-to-paycheck, and too many of our fellow citizens have spent months and months looking for a good job,” said Chairman Priebus.
“We can accelerate this job creation if President Obama is willing to put together a serious budget, giving business more certainty and thus allowing them to hire more. Indeed, today’s gains could have been so much better if companies large and small were not still worried about future tax hikes, regulations, and Obamacare rules.
“Republicans in the House of Representatives have spent more than two years working to control spending, limit regulation, protect our entitlement programs and reform the tax code–all to unleash economic growth and create jobs. Republicans in the Senate even offered the White House carte blanche to cut programs that they deemed most wasteful, but they refused. America’s thirty Republican governors have balanced budgets, cut taxes, and fostered innovation. Republicans are doing their job to get this economy on track. Now it’s time for President Obama and his party to join us in working to get more Americans back to work and securing a debt-free future for our children.”
