RNC Statement on the January Unemployment Report
WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the January unemployment report:
“Today’s unemployment report shows America still desperately needs jobs. Unfortunately, President Obama has made it clear that job creation is not a top priority for his second term. Just yesterday, he officially dismissed his Jobs Council, and in his Inaugural Address last week he all but completely ignored job creation,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“We also learned this week that the American economy shrank in the final quarter of 2012. President Obama bragged last week about ‘an economic recovery,’ but this week it looks like we’re moving backward.
“As a result of President Obama’s anti-growth policies, economic opportunity is in short supply. Our nation must act swiftly to tackle the debt, limit regulation, and reform entitlements and the tax code.
“The president and Washington Democrats should take a cue from the 30 Republican governors across America who are balancing budgets, encouraging economic growth, and reforming government. It’s no coincidence that states with Republican governors are creating more jobs–and more opportunity.”
