RNC Statement on the May Jobs Report
WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the May jobs report:
“We’re happy that a few Americans were able to find jobs in the last month, but millions of unemployed and underemployed Americans are still waiting for the recovery President Obama promised years ago. This is the status quo—well below where our economy needs to be to grow,” said Chairman Priebus.
“President Obama has given plenty of speeches about jobs, but he’s done very little to support the kind of commonsense pro-growth policies Republicans have offered year after year. Instead, his government has been wasting precious time and money.
“Reports have come out showing he’s lost control of his government: the IRS has been squandering taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars on luxurious million dollar trips and conferences. It’s not fair to families struggling to pay the bills and young people paying off students loans that the government wastes their money in this way.
“By eliminating big-government excess and unnecessary spending, while making regulations smarter and the tax code fairer, we can encourage innovation and real economic growth. We need sensible policies that promote job creation and spur economic opportunity for all Americans in every community, and we hope President Obama will finally join us in our efforts.”
