RNC Statement On The Passing Of Former Guam Delegate Ben Blaz
WASHINGTON – Chairman Reince Priebus and Co-Chairman Sharon Day issued the following statement on the passing of former Republican Delegate from Guam Vincente Tomas Garrido “Ben” Blaz.
“I extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Ben Blaz and especially his sons, Mike and Tom, and their families,” said Chairman Priebus. “Ben served his country with distinction not only as a Delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives, but also as an officer in the U.S. Marines, where he rose to the rank of Brigadier General. Ben was a credit to the Marines, to the U.S. Congress and to the Republican Party. He will be missed.”
“As the first person of Chamorro descent to rise to the rank of a General Officer, Ben was a trailblazer. We mourn his passing, but we honor and celebrate his life,” said Co-Chairman Day. “In his community and in his party, he was long admired for his service to the people of Guam and to all Americans.”
