3 Ways Hillary Clinton Hurts Florida

Ali Pardo - December 2, 2015

As Hillary Clinton jets around Florida this week to scrounge for campaign cash, let’s look at three ways her policies spell trouble for all Floridians.

First, her willingness to associate with shady characters for political gain knows no bounds. Her first stop was a fundraiser hosted by longtime donor and Clinton State Department crony Dawn McCall. McCall left the State Department in disgrace following a scathing Inspector General report. She spent $630,000 in taxpayer funds to help the State Department attract likes on Facebook. She blew $1.8 million to renovate office space that was only three years old. The same Inspector General’s report noted that McCall repeatedly shouted and used profanity at staff meetings, which helped produce “a devastating effect on morale.” The division of the State Department under McCall’s lead was torn apart by a “pervasive perception of cronyism.” McCall is the type of irresponsible person to whom Hillary Clinton will give a leadership role in exchange for campaign contributions.

Then there’s the $275 billion in new spending which Hillary Clinton just unveiled, with no explanation for how to pay for it. That’s just part of the 1.2 trillion dollars she wants to spend overall. Under Hillary Clinton’s spending plans, every resident of Florida would be forced to take on over $3700 worth of new national debt. Since she hasn’t offered any details on how to pay for her plans, a Hillary Clinton presidency must mean tax hikes for middle class Floridians.

Lastly, her record on immigration is tainted by inconsistency and pandering. She happily changes her tone based on whatever group she’s talking to. At a town hall meeting in New Hampshire last month, Clinton boasted about the number of times she voted to “build a barrier to try and prevent illegal immigrants from coming in.” Yet weeks later, she apologized on the Noticias Telemundo Facebook page for using the term “illegal immigrant,” saying it “was a poor choice of words.” Nobody has any idea of what her immigration policy will be as she panders from one group to the next.

Whether the topic is her self-serving cronyism, her reckless spending plans, or her hollow rhetoric on immigration, Hillary Clinton has proved she is unfit for the White House. Judging from her 56% unfavorable rating from independent voters in the state, Florida residents already know this. Her dishonest behavior and inconsistent positions will only sink her further.
