The awkward indignities of a populist from Vermont defending a corrupt insider from Washington, DC were on full display this morning as Bernie Sanders struggled to defend Hillary Clinton’s big bank ties and Clinton Foundation conflicts just after it was revealed she spent the primary mocking his supporters as broke jobless millennials building shrines to Bernie in their parents’ basements.
Sanders refused to defend Clinton's six-figure speaking fees from Deutsche Bank. Currently, the Obama Justice Department is demanding Deutsche Bank pay a $14 billion fine for their role in the 2008 housing bubble.
Next, Sanders refused to defend the Clinton Foundation's conflicts and corruption, even saying that the Clinton Foundation's foreign donations "raise serious questions."
And to top it all off, Sanders struggled to defend Hillary Clinton's recent insults of his supporters. When host Jake Tapper asked Sanders if the leaked audio of Clinton calling his ideas "false promises" bothered him, Sanders said "of course it does." In the leaked audio Hillary Clinton called Bernie Sanders' supporters basement dwelling baristas succumbing to false promises.
