Breaking Story Undermines Clinton’s Pledge To Restore Trust

- June 27, 2016

Just As Clinton Makes Pledge To Restore Trust And Shifts Blame, A New Report Finds More Lies From Her Email Scandal

In Remarks At 3:30PM Today At An Event In Chicago, Clinton Pledged To Restore Trust in Government, Before Blaming Her Low Trust Numbers To "Wild Accusations" Made Against Her. CLINTON: " In other words, I will do everything I can to rebuild your trust in our government. And let me just say a few words about that, trust is the glue that holds our democracy together. But it is no secret that American's trust in government has eroded. So has our trust in the media, business, religion, even professional sports. Something that used to connect us, that made it possible for us to believe in a shared present, and a common future, has worn away, it is crucial for our country to get this back. I take this seriously as a citizen, and as someone asking for your vote. And I personally know I have work to do on this front, a lot of people tell pollsters they don't trust me. Now I don't like hearing that, and I've thought a lot about what's behind it. And you know, you hear 25 years worth of wild accusations, anyone would start to wonder." (Hillary Clinton, Remarks At The Rainbow PUSH Convention, Chicago, IL, 6/27/16)

Minutes Earlier The AP Reported That More Emails She Failed To Turn Over Were Released By The State Department

Just Minutes Before, The Associated Press Reported That Dozens Of Work-Related Emails That Clinton "Failed" To Hand Over To The State Department Were Released Under A Freedom Of Information Act Lawsuit. " Another 165 pages of emails from Hillary Clinton's time at the State Department have surfaced, including dozens sent through her private server that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee failed to hand over last year. The latest emails were released under court order by the State Department to the conservative legal advocacy group Judicial Watch, which released them Monday." (Michael Biesecker, "More Clinton Emails Released, Including Some She Deleted," The Associated Press , 6/27/16)

  • These Emails Were "Not Among The 55,000 Pages Of Work-Related Messages That Clinton Provided…" "The emails were not among the 55,000 pages of work-related messages that Clinton provided, including one where the then-secretary of state discusses how her official records would be kept. Clinton and her lawyers deleted tens of thousands of messages she claimed were clearly personal." (Michael Biesecker, "More Clinton Emails Released, Including Some She Deleted," The Associated Press , 6/27/16)

The Report Comes A Week After We Learned Clinton Failed To Turn Over A Damning Email On Risks Posed By Her Secret Server

The Report Comes On The Heels Of Last Week’s News That Clinton “Failed To Turn Over A Copy Of A Key” Email About Security Threats Posed By Her Use Of A Secret Server. “Former Secretary Hillary Clinton failed to turn over a copy of a key message involving problems caused by her use of a private homebrew email server, the State Department confirmed Thursday. The disclosure makes it unclear what other work-related emails may have been deleted by the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee … Clinton has never outlined in detail what criteria she and her lawyers used to determine which emails to release and which to delete, but her 2010 email with Abedin appears clearly work-related under the State Department's own criteria for agency records under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act.” (Michael Biesecker, “Clinton Failed To Hand Over Key Email To State Department,” The Associated Press, 6/23/16)

Clinton Pledged She Had Turned Over All Work-Related Email Under Penalty Of Perjury

In Early August 2015, Clinton Certified Under Penalty Of Perjury That She Had Turned Over All Work-Related Emails. (Hillary Clinton, Declaration On Content Of Emails, Supplement To Defendant's August 7, 2015 Status Report, Executed 8/8/15)
