Clinton Desperately Tries To Spin Her FBI Investigation

- March 4, 2016

Clinton Called Her FBI Investigation A Security Review, Despite It's Criminal Nature

Today, Clinton Falsely Claimed Her FBI Investigation Is Only A "Security Review." CNBC'S JOHN HARWOOD: "Let me ask about quickly about e-mail. Your republican have openly begun to suggest that you could be prosecuted or go to jail as a result of this issue. When the average person out there hears there's an FBI investigation and some guy who worked for her has gotten immunity from prosecution, shouldn't they be tempted to conclude like, 'well, maybe she could get prosecuted?'" CLINTON: "No, not at all. This is the same security review that has been going on since last spring. I'm happy that everybody now has been cooperating and giving information because I think that will finally end this and show that only appropriate steps were taken. So you know I know the republicans are engaging in a lot of wishful thinking but this is not … " ( CNBC Now, 3/4/16)

"The Clinton Campaign Has Described The Probe As A Security Review," But "Investigators Are Trying To Determine If A Crime Was Committed." "As part of the inquiry, law enforcement officials will look at the potential damage had the classified information in the emails been exposed. The Clinton campaign has described the probe as a security review. But current and former officials in the FBI and at the Justice Department have said investigators are trying to determine if a crime was committed." While The Investigation Began As A Security Referral, "Multiple Law Enforcement Officials Said The Matter Quickly Became An Investigation Into Whether Anyone Had Committed A Crime…" "The F.B.I.'s case did begin as a security referral from the inspectors general of the State Department and the nation's intelligence agencies, who were concerned that classified information might have been stored outside a secure government network. But multiple law enforcement officials said the matter quickly became an investigation into whether anyone had committed a crime in handling classified information." Then Clinton Tried To Spin Her Mishandling Of Classified Materials As Not Sloppy Despite The Math

Then Clinton Claimed Her Mishandling Of Classified Material Was Not Sloppy. CNBC'S JOHN HARWOOD: "Well, in terms of your own reflection on this, though, assume, let's say you're right, and there is no legal case. Given the fact that more than 1,000 e-mails, and I recognize there's a dispute, have been described as classified, some even top secret, would you concede that you and the people who worked for you at the state department were sloppy in the way you handled top secret information?" CLINTON: "No, no, because let's be clear about this. There wasn't a single one of those that was marked classified, either sent or received." (CNBC Now, 3/4/16)

The 22 Top Secret Emails, Which Are Being "Withheld In Full" Were Being Handled By As Many As 30 Accounts, Reflecting "How The Intelligence Was Broadly Shared." "A second source not authorized to speak on the record said the number of accounts involved could be as high as 30 and reflects how the intelligence was broadly shared, replied to, and copied to individuals using the unsecured server. The State Department recently confirmed that the messages in question include the most sensitive kind of intelligence. On Jan. 29, Fox News first reported that some emails on Clinton's server were too damaging to release in any form. The State Department subsequently announced that 22 'top secret' emails were being withheld in full; these were the messages being handled by more than a dozen accounts."
