Clinton Absurdly Claims No Knowledge Of Super PAC Coordination Attacking Senator Sanders And Vice President Joe Biden. JUDY WOODRUFF: "Well, you have said that the Super PAC that is out there supporting you is that they are really to criticize Republicans. But one of the PACs that is supporting you is now attacking Senator Sanders. I guess my question is do you approve of this? Going after Senator Sanders by this Super PAC. We know there is coordination." CLINTON: "Well, I don't know anything about what you are saying. I have no knowledge of what they are doing. I've said I want anybody supporting me to go after the republicans. Because whatever differences we might have on the democratic side. They pale in comparison to the really substantive differences that we have with republicans." WOODRUFF: "Did you call on them to cease and desist and stop criticizing?" CLINTON: I said I want them, I want people who support me to go after republicans. I've said it before, I'll say it again." WOODRUFF: "Well, just continuing in that vein, the David Brock group, it has been reported this week in New York Magazine, is digging through Vice President Biden's past, his record, so-called opposition research. My question is do you approve of this?" CLINTON: "First of all, I have no knowledge of it. I have been very clear, anybody who listens to my public statements and anybody who pays attention to what I say, I want to give Vice President Biden whatever space and time he needs to make his decision. Now, if he gets into the election, then people are going to be raising questions, just like they do about me. That's what happens when you get into the arena. But I'm not asking and I don't approve of anybody who is supporting me or say they support me to be focusing on anyone other than the republicans." WOODRUFF: "For you, you're saying that you weren't aware they were doing this and you don't approve of it, but the fact they're doing it isn't that really an effort to intimidate the Vice President against getting into the race?" CLINTON: "Judy, I don't know anything about it. I can't comment on it any further than I have." (PBS's "NewsHour," 10/7/15)

But Clinton's Coordinating Super PAC Is Preparing To "Go To War" With Biden And Arming Itself With Opposition Research

But According To New York Magazine, Clinton's Campaign Is Coordinating Opposition Research Against Joe Biden Directed By Pro-Clinton Super PAC Correct The Record. "If Joe Biden jumps into the Democratic primary, Hillary Clinton will be ready to go on the offensive. According to a source close to the Clinton campaign, a team of opposition researchers working on behalf of Clinton is currently digging through Biden's long record in office to develop attack lines in case the vice-president runs. The research effort started about a month ago and is being conducted by operatives at Correct the Record, the pro-Hillary superpac founded by David Brock, which is coordinating with the Clinton campaign. According to the source, the research has turned up material on Biden's ties to Wall Street; his reluctance to support the raid that killed Osma bin Laden; and his role in the Anita Hill saga as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee." (Gabriel Sherman, "Hillary Clinton Readies Oppo-Research To Go To War Against Joe Biden," New York Magazine's Daily Intelligencer , 10/6/15)

And It Is Employing "McCarthyite" Tactics To Stop The Bernie Sanders Surge

David Brock's Pro-Clinton Super PAC - Correct The Record, Circulated Research Linking Bernie Sanders To U.K.'s Controversial Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn And His Praise Of Hugo Chavez. "A super PAC backing Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is going negative, circulating an email that yokes her chief rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) to some of the more controversial remarks made by Jeremy Corbyn, the United Kingdom's new Labour Party leader, including his praise for the late Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan leader who provided discounted fuel to Vermont in a deal supported by Sanders. Clinton's camp has long said it has no plans to attack Sanders. But the super PAC, called Correct the Record, departed from its defense of Clinton's record as a former secretary of state in an email Monday that compares Sanders with Corbyn. Correct the Record, led by Clinton ally David Brock, also has sent trackers after Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley." (Samantha Lachlan and Ryan Grim, "A Pro-Clinton Super PAC Is Going Negative On Bernie Sanders," The Huffington Post, 9/14/15)

  • Correct The Record's Email "Strays" From The Pattern Of Democrat Candidates Not Criticizing Each Other Publicly. "The Democratic candidates have refrained from criticizing each other directly. Sanders has obliquely knocked Clinton for not stating her position on the Keystone XL pipeline, and hasn't made an issue of her use of a private email server and account while at the State Department. Clinton, in turn, almost never mentions Sanders' name and has focused on her Republican rivals. Monday's Correct the Record email strays from that pattern." (Samantha Lachlan and Ryan Grim, "A Pro-Clinton Super PAC Is Going Negative On Bernie Sanders," The Huffington Post, 9/14/15)

The Email Featured Corbyn's "Most Extreme Comments," That Called Osama bin Laden's Death A "Tragedy" And That He Is Friends With Hezbollah. "The email, sent to a Huffington Post reporter in response to an article about Corbyn and Sanders without any agreement that it would be off the record, was meant to flag Corbyn's 'most extreme comments.' Among those was the suggestion that the assassination of Osama bin Laden was 'a tragedy,' since there was no attempt to arrest the former al Qaeda leader and put him on trial. The email also cites Corbyn's comment that he'd invite his 'friends' from Hezbollah to come to the U.K. to discuss peace in the Middle East and an editorial in which he said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's 'attempt to encircle Russia is one of the big threats of our time.'" (Samantha Lachlan and Ryan Grim, "A Pro-Clinton Super PAC Is Going Negative On Bernie Sanders," The Huffington Post, 9/14/15)

MSNBC's Morning Joe Panelist Mark Halperin Called Clinton Super PAC's Attack On Sanders "McCarthyite Tactics." "'McCarthyite tactics' by David Brock's pro-Hillary Clinton Super PAC Correct The Record on Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) turned out to be the 'worst of both worlds' for the Clinton campaign, Morning Joe panelist Mark Halperin said Friday." (David Rutz, "Halperin: Clinton World Engaged In 'McCarthyite Tactics' On Sanders And It Backfired," The Washington Free Beacon , 9/18/15)

  • Halperin: "Particularly Ones Like This, McCarthyite Tactics, Where The Campaign Isn't Willing To Stand Up And Say- Or The Super Pac -This Is What We're Saying." (MSNBC's "Morning Joe," 9/18/15)
