Clinton: No One Signed Off On My Secret Email Server, It Was Allowed

Michael Short - October 16, 2015

In a stunning admission, Hillary says that she unilaterally set up her secret email server that exposed Top Secret material.

But contrary to Clinton's repeated claims, State Department rules, a federal judge, and the Obama administration's own guidelines have all made clear that what she did was not allowed. As we have detailed at length previously, Hillary is in violation of the rules on several fronts

First, regulations require that federal records, including email communications, be maintained in the agency’s official record-keeping system. To that issue, a federal judge stated that Clinton’s practices 'violated government policy by storing official messages on a private server when she worked as Secretary of State.'

Second, Clinton was obligated to turn over her business-related emails before she departed State in 2013. However, Clinton failed to turn over emails until December 2014, and only upon specific request from the State Department.

Most importantly, Hillary’s mishandling of classified information on her secret server brings up national security issues far beyond federal record keeping. Independent intelligence watchdogs have flagged hundreds of Hillary’s emails for classified material, and at least two have been designated 'top-secret.' The FBI is also conducting their own 'serious investigation' into information on Hillary Clinton’s servers.

And as Washington Post fact-checkers note, none of Clinton's predecessors "had set up an exclusive and private e-mail server for all of their departmental communications."

While Hillary Clinton may think she can get away with misleading the American people and laughing off legitimate questions about her judgement, her growing email scandal personifies why an overwhelming majority of Americans don't trust her.
