Dina Titus Flip Flops On NV Demos Within 8 Hours To Mirror Clinton Camp Spin

- February 11, 2016

This Afternoon, Clinton Supporter Rep. Dina Titus Said, "Nevada Has Very Little In Common, Besides Its Demographics, With Iowa And New Hampshire." MSNBC'S THOMAS ROBERTS: "I want to bring in now democratic congresswoman Dina Titus from Nevada. So Congresswoman, you hear there what Steve Kornacki says breaking down the numbers. We know you are a Clinton supporter, so why do you think that she could have the advantage?" REP. DINA TITUS: "Well she's been in the state since last April. She's been working very hard, she knows how important the state is to her. And Nevada has very little in common, besides its demographics, with Iowa and New Hampshire. Certainly Las Vegas, which is my district, is sui generis. We have got big cities, small towns, and rural areas. We've got strong labor groups, and hospitality, and the service unions, and in construction. I think it's a population that she will play very well with." (MSNBC's "MSNBC Live," 2/11/16)

In A Desperate Spin, Clinton Has Been Trying To Lower Expectations In Nevada By Touting False Demographics

Ralston Reports Headline: "Team Clinton Tries To Lower Nevada Expectations With Incredible (I.E. False) Claims" (Jon Ralson, Team Clinton Tries To Lower Nevada Expectations With Incredible (I.E. False) Claims," Ralston Reports , 2/11/16)

Clinton Spokesperson Brian Fallon: "There's Going To Be A Narrowing In Both Places (South Carolina And Nevada) - We're Clear-Eyed About That." "After the disaster in snow-white New Hampshire and the near-death experience in colorless Iowa, Team Clinton suddenly was trying to make Nevada sound as if its rainbow of voters did not exist. 'There's going to be a narrowing in both places (South Carolina and Nevada) - we're clear-eyed about that,' Clinton spokesman Brian Fallon told NBC's Chuck Todd, as reported by BuzzFeed's Ruby Cramer. 'There's an important Hispanic element to the Democratic caucus in Nevada. But it's still a state that is 80 percent white voters. You have a caucus-style format, and he'll have the momentum coming out of New Hampshire presumably, so there's a lot of reasons he should do well.' 80 percent white? What?" (Jon Ralson, Team Clinton Tries To Lower Nevada Expectations With Incredible (I.E. False) Claims," Ralston Reports , 2/11/16)

Despite Clinton's Desire "To Lower Expectations In Nevada After Being Crushed" By Sanders, The 80 Percent White Voter Figure Is "Ludicrous" And "The Attempt To Make Nevada Seem Like Iowa And New Hampshire Is A Spin Too Far." "I understand the desire of Team Clinton to lower expectations in Nevada after being crushed by Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire. But both Mook and Fallon know that 80 percent figure is ludicrous, and the attempt to make Nevada seem like Iowa and New Hampshire is a spin too far." But Just This Morning, The Hill Published A Titus Op-Ed Touting Nevada As More Diverse Than New Hampshire, Iowa

Rep. Dina Titus Op-Ed: "Diverse Nevada Readies For 'First In The West' Caucuses" (Dina Titus, Op-Ed, "Diverse Nevada Readies For 'First In The West' Caucuses," The Hill, 2/11/16)

Titus Said The 2008 Nevada Caucus Prompted An "Unprecedented Turnout … From All Walks Of Life" And She Was "Confident That Democrats Will Mobilize Again This Year." "On February 20, Nevada's Democrats will hold the 'First in the West' contest for the party's presidential nominee. We moved into this early, third place slot in 2008, prompting unprecedented turnout by a wave of caucus goers from all walks of life. We are confident that Democrats will mobilize again this year, providing the first look at how our nation's demographics will play a role in electing the president next November." (Dina Titus, Op-Ed, "Diverse Nevada Readies For 'First In The West' Caucuses," The Hill, 2/11/16)

Titus: "The Racial And Ethnic Census Data Confirm That Nevada Represents The Nation's Diverse Tableau Of People." "First, the racial and ethnic census data confirm that Nevada represents the nation's diverse tableau of people. Nevada's Hispanic population (27.8 percent) is eight times larger than New Hampshire's and almost five times larger than Iowa's. The state's African American population is six times greater than New Hampshire's. Our fast-growing Asian/Pacific Islander community is nearly four times the size of Iowa's. And 17 percent of Nevada students in K-12 have at least one unauthorized immigrant parent." (Dina Titus, Op-Ed, "Diverse Nevada Readies For 'First In The West' Caucuses," The Hill, 2/11/16)
