The Facts:

HIRING REMAINED STRONG IN SEPTEMBER CONTINUING TO PULL DISCOURAGED AND PART-TIME WORKERS OFF THE SIDELINES

The U.S. gained a net 181,000 jobs in today's report.

The New York Times : The U.S. continued "steady" pace of hiring in September.

CNN's Christine Romans : "more people are working, people are coming off the sidelines and looking for jobs."

The strong labor market continues to lift workers left behind by the recovery under President Obama, including adults with less than a high school education who saw their lowest employment rate ever in September.

MINORITIES CONTINUE TO BENEFIT FROM HISTORICALLY LOW UNEMPLOYMENT

The unemployment rate remained below 4% for the 7th month in a row , falling to 3.5% in September, a 50 year low.

The Wall Street Journal : historic unemployment shows that "the labor market continues to provide opportunities for Americans in search of work."

Fox Business : the last time unemployment was this low was "when we landed on the moon."

African American unemployment remained at a record low 5.5% in September.

Hispanic unemployment fell to a record low 3.9% in September.

The U.S. Continued Adding Jobs At A "Steady" Pace In September As The Labor Market Gained A Net 181,000 Jobs In Today's Jobs Report

The New York Times : The U.S. Continued "Steady" Pace Of Hiring In September. "Breaking News: The U.S. added 136,000 jobs in September, continuing a steady pace of hiring, while the unemployment rate fell further." ( Twitter Feed , 10/4/19)

Despite A Weak Global Economy American Hiring "Remains Strong," Adding 136,000 Jobs In September. "Amid signs that the global economy is slowing, American hiring nonetheless remains strong. In September, American employers added 136,000 jobs. The unemployment rate fell to 3.5%, which is the lowest rate since December 1969." ( CNN Business , 10/4/19)

  • Upward Revisions To Previous Months Added 45,000 Jobs. "However, there was some additional good news because the previous two months saw upward revisions. The Amount Of Americans Working Part Time But Who Want Full Time Jobs Fell To Its Lowest Rate Since December 2000. "The nation's underemployment rate, which looks at people who are unemployed as well as those who are working part time but would prefer full time work, fell to 6.9%. The Unemployment Rate Fell To 3.5% In September, A 50 Year Low . "The unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, a 50-year low. The labor force participation rate was little changed at 63.2 percent. Average hourly earnings, meanwhile, rose 2.9 percent over the past year to $28.09. That was slightly lower than projections of 3.2 percent." ( Fox Business , 10/4/19)

The last time it was that low was when we landed on the moon, 1969 in that year. Revisions were both up for July and August; 7,000 jobs got added.
