Highlights from Conf. Call w/ Rep. Pompeo (R-KS), KS GOP Chair Adkins & Nat. Committeeman Tiahrt

- December 6, 2011

Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-KS):

“This president has talked about corporate fat cat jet owners just about every day he’s been in office, and he’s done more destruction to the general aviation industry than any president since that industry has been created...

“He comes to Kansas today to make a political stop, channeling the former President Teddy Roosevelt. I will tell you the folks that I have talked to in the last day or so, since the announcement of the President’s visit has been made, the president that they think he most closely resembles is not Roosevelt but Carter…

“In Kansas, this President has certainly given us a rough ride. It has been an incredibly difficult time in Kansas since this president has taken office, and in the next year, I hope we get a chance to change him out.”

KS GOP Chairwoman Amanda Adkins:

“As a member of the Kansas City business community, a mother of two small children, and a civic activist in the state of Kansas, I have spent a lot of time talking with entrepreneurs, businesses of all sizes, families and individuals across the state and right now the sentiment in Kansas is people are very much focused on and desire clarity on a path towards job creation, competitiveness and effectiveness for the state of Kansas and for the country…

“I have to say, odd that he selected the state of Kansas in the sense that a compare contrast of his executive management at the federal level versus that of our own Governor Sam Brownback is not in his favor…

“Since President Obama has taken office, the national debt has risen 41%. I don’t that Kansans are going to be overly excited or enthusiastic about his message today. In fact, I think it is going to backfire.”

National Committeeman and Former U.S. Congressman Todd Tiahrt:

“I think it’s parallel that President Obama wants to draw between his Osawatomie speech and what Teddy Roosevelt did when he came to Osawatomie. Teddy Roosevelt was pushing at that time a new nationalism, which focused on human rights, and collective control of property and wealth, and certainly we’ve heard a lot about redistribution of wealth from President Obama.

“It’s my hope that by this time next year we will be preparing to swear in a new president which will not try to grow the size of government, but instead grow the size of our economy...”
