Highlights from Conf. Call W/ U.S. Rep Huizenga (MI-2) On Middle Class Tax Relief & Job Creation Act

- December 14, 2011

U.S. Rep Bill Huizenga (MI-2):

“Last night was a big night. I think there was a lot of doubt that was sort of thrown around from our friends across the aisle about whether the Republicans actually had the votes. It’s interesting that none of the Democrats came on who voted for it until after we hit the 218 mark and we lost 14 Republicans but gained 10 Democrats, and I think it was a strong showing that this is definitely the direction that the House of Representatives sees as a viable path.

Its going south down to our Gulf coast and bridge is also looking at refitting their refinery in South East Michigan that would take this heavy crude…and it benefits directly Michigan. Or its going to the West Coast of Vancouver and its going to get shipped to Asia…

“If the Senate doesn’t like this then they’re going to have to come up with an alternative. Frankly, at this point, we have a president who wants to do nothing but spend and we’ve got a Senate that frankly wants to do nothing.  They’re sitting back throwing stones but we’ve seen very little action out of them. We’ve got 27 different bills including some directly that deal with keystone, stand alone bills that are just sitting in the Senate…
