While his lack of foreign policy experience may have prevented him from appearing on the Obama ticket in 2008, Senator Kaine’s tenure on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee yielded him enough insight to call the Obama-Clinton strategy in Syria and the Middle East “a joke,” and sharply criticized the lack of a “comprehensive strategy” for defeating ISIS.
This is a sharp difference from his current position, which says that Hillary is prepared to face serious foreign policy challenges in the Middle East, where her record is nothing but failure. He has previously called the U.S. fight against the Islamic State an “illegal war,” and decried an “overreaching president” for interfering against ISIS without Congressional authorization. While acknowledging the severity of the growing ISIS threat, he remained critical of Obama’s illegitimate use of military force.
Despite these criticisms of Clinton and Obama, Senator Kaine has abandoned his own beliefs and put his career in politics first. The American people cannot trust Tim Kaine or Hillary Clinton.
