Mark is a current House Member in North Carolina for District 55, serving his third consecutive term. Mark ranked 2 out of 120 House Members for "Conservative Effectiveness" by Civitas Action. He was appointed as the Co-Chair of the House Agriculture and Community College Committee by the Speaker of the House. In 2017, he was elected Vice Chairman of the newly established North Carolina Legislative Freedom Caucus.
As a former Reserve in the US Navy from 1985-1993, he was honored as Sailor of the Year for the "Mobile Inshore and Undersea Warfare" unit. In 1993 upon serving, he was honorably discharged.
Mark is a founding Board Member of the Union Day Charter School in Union County, which is of the most highly sought after charter schools within the state. He received his Bachelors of Arts in Business Management from Concordia University and was a General Contractor in Residential Construction.
Married to wife, Lisa for 43 years and together they have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren.
