McAuliffe 2020 - Putting Terry First

Garren Shipley - January 9, 2018

If you missed this morning’s roll out of the McAuliffe for President campaign, you missed quite a show. Not only did the outgoing Governor and wannabe Democratic Presidential candidate hog the podium from his successor, he also announced a list of vague priorities designed to make some key branches of the Democrat base happy.

Among the highlights:
• Cap and Trade for far-left environmental groups to cover his previous pipeline sins.
• A new level of bureaucracy to oversee loans for college students.
• A call for new background checks for gun purchases… after talking about how effective the existing system has been.
• Support for legislation to remove most restrictions on abortion to keep the Planned Parenthood money flowing.
As you cover Terry’s coming out party, please consider the following quote from me:

“The only way Terry McAuliffe could make it more plain that he’s running would be to have a flashing neon sign above his head. It’s a safe bet that tomorrow’s State of the Commonwealth speech will be little more than a Christmas list for liberal Democrat primary voters. Virginia deserves better.” — Garren Shipley, RNC spokesman
