RE: Clinton’s Counterterrorism Catastrophe
DATE: December 15, 2015
Hillary Clinton and the Democrats are on the defensive as the public sours on their poor handling of national security issues. Following the attacks in Paris and California, the threat from radical Islamic terrorism is the highest it has been since 9/11 according to the head of the FBI. Deaths from terrorism were up 80% last year and Americans now say it’s the number one problem facing the country. This is the backdrop of Clinton’s speech today – a more chaotic world, and a homeland made less safe due to the failed approach she and President Obama have supported over the past seven years.
As the chief architect of President Obama’s foreign policy, Hillary Clinton has seen her tenure as Secretary of State go from being a chief qualification for the presidency to a huge political liability, particularly when it comes to the issue of counterterrorism. Here are just a few of the glaring blemishes in Clinton’s record you can count on her to mislead on or skip over during her speech:
Clinton Has Long Supported President Obama’s Failed ISIS Strategy.
As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton supported President Obama’s hasty withdrawal from Iraq and failed to anticipate the rise of ISIS, which former Ambassador Ryan Crocker said was “utterly predictable.” Earlier this year, Clinton endorsed Obama’s failed ISIS strategy saying the president was making “the right moves” and previously said that she “would have advised him to do exactly as I believe he is doing.” And just last week, Clinton declined to call for a new strategy during an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and told the Concord Monitor editorial board the president’s approach was “close to mine.”
Clinton’s Online Counterterrorism Effort At The State Department Was An Abject Failure.
Clinton has repeatedly stressed the importance of combating terrorist groups in cyberspace, but an online counterterrorism program she and President Obama set up at the State Department is in disarray and “appears to be losing.” While Clinton has touted this program on the stump, the White House conceded it was doomed from the start after a damning audit was conducted by outside tech experts.
The Clinton-Obama Nuclear Deal With Iran Will Hand The World’s Leading State Sponsor Of Terrorism $100 Billion.
As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton spearheaded secret talks with Iran which ultimately led to the weak nuclear deal announced earlier this year. But the deal not only fails to ultimately block Iran’s pathway to an atomic weapon, it will unfreeze some $100 billion in assets that even the agreement’s supporters acknowledge will allow the Islamic republic to increase its funding of terrorism.
Clinton’s State Department Refused To Label The Deadly Islamist Group Boko Haram As A Terrorist Organization.
The radical Islamist group Boko Haram was responsible for killing more people around the world in 2014 than any other terrorist group, including ISIS. But while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, the State Department refused to add Boko Haram to its list of terrorist organizations, despite pleas from the CIA, FBI, and the Obama Justice Department.
Clinton’s Failed Post-Gadhafi Libya Policy Created A Failed State And A Breeding Ground For Radical Islamic Terrorists.
According to former Secretary of Defense Bob Gates, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had no plan to secure Libya once dictator Muammar Gaddafi was removed from power. Clinton’s failure to implement a strategy to fill the vacuum following Gadaffi’s ouster led to the rise of radical Islamic groups like Al Qaeda and ISIS in Libya, and was a contributing factor in the Benghazi terror attack that killed four Americans.
Clinton Supports Bypassing Congress To Bring Guantanamo Bay Terrorists To The U.S. Mainland.
Shortly before stepping down as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton authored a secret memo encouraging President Obama to bypass Congress and relocate the terrorists at Guantanamo Bay to the United States mainland. Clinton’s position is so extreme, Congressional Democrats have repeatedly voted to block the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees and even Attorney General Loretta Lynch said such an approach would be against the law.
Clinton Refuses To Say We’re At War With ISIS And Won’t Call The Enemy By Their Name.
Hillary Clinton has declined to characterize the United States as being at war with ISIS, a position that not only runs contrary to the Secretary of Defense, but even President Obama. And while top Pentagon officials aren’t afraid to use the term ‘radical Islam,’ Hillary Clinton and President Obama continue to refuse to call the enemy by their name.
