Today, we learned that out of concerns for conflicts of interest at the Clinton Foundation and Hillary Clinton’s State Department, the Inspector General began an investigation and subpoenaed the foundation for records. Several news reports have found clear examples of Clinton Foundation donors receiving benefits from Hillary Clinton.
Seeking to find out if donations influenced actions, back on May 27, 2015, the RNC issued a Freedom of Information Act Request (FOIA) to the International Trade Administration (ITA).
When any company (including any Clinton Foundation corporate donor) wants help from the government on an overseas deal, they have to apply through the ITA. Our FOIA request sought records regarding which companies Hillary Clinton decided to help.
After 260 days, six certified letters requesting a response, and four additional FOIA requests, the RNC has still not received a single response to any one our five ITA FOIA requests.
It seems the ITA has followed the State Department’s lead and is stonewalling on requests about Hillary Clinton. We’d like to say we’re surprised, but as we’ve learned from Clinton’s secret server, this is par for the course in President Obama’s “most transparent administration ever.”
