Biden's Latest National Security Risk

Rapid Response

America’s emergency oil reserves have fallen to their lowest levels in four decades — and Biden is doing nothing to fix it.

It’s only the latest move by Biden to end American energy independence once and for all.

After unilaterally raiding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to artificially lower gas prices — in lieu of expanding American energy production — the Biden administration has shrunk the emergency reserves by nearly 300 million barrels since taking office.

A depleted stockpile represents a major national security threat to the country — but Biden’s energy secretary says it’s “unlikely” to be refilled anytime soon.

Of course, that’s part of the plan. Recall: in 2020, Democrats blocked the Trump administration from replenishing the stockpile when oil was just $24/barrel. Now, as oil approaches $75/barrel, the Biden administration says the country can’t afford it.

Meanwhile, the nationwide average for gas remains more than a dollar higher than when Biden took office.

Maybe that was the plan all along.
