WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the March jobs report:
"Today's jobs numbers reflect a stagnant and far too weak economic recovery," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
"Unemployment is still unacceptably high and far too few people are in the labor force. Too many families continue to endure the pain of joblessness.
"Over three years ago, President Obama projected that the unemployment rate would be below six percent by now thanks to his stimulus. But the stimulus failed, and unemployment has been far above that level ever since.
"The president's policies have done more to kill jobs than to create them. From ObamaCare to massive regulations and reckless spending, Democrats have not acted in the best interest of the American worker. As a result, our economy remains weak, and families are struggling to make ends meet as prices for gas, groceries and health care skyrocket.
"President Obama's only hope for reelection is that Americans will settle for this feeble economic recovery, when in reality America can do so much better. Another four years of Obamanomics would be a disaster. The only question would be what would destroy the economy first-his regulatory regime, his tax increases, or his record debt.
"Clearly, America needs a new direction, and that requires electing a new president in November."
