WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement regarding the House Republicans' budget:
"I applaud House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan on the release of his new budget-his bold Path to Prosperity for our country," said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
"President Obama's failed policies have put America on an unsustainable trajectory. The president broke his promise to cut the deficit in half during his first term, and, as of yesterday, he has created more new debt than any president in history. Senate Democrats, accomplices in Obama's fiscal irresponsibility, have failed to pass a budget for 1,056 days.
"Americans are demanding a leader who will produce an efficient, effective government that lives within its means, but Obama refuses to listen.
"Republicans, however, have heard the American people. Congressman Ryan's budget responsibly reforms our entitlement programs, saving them from insolvency. It allows us to balance the budget over time, and it fosters economic growth and opportunity.
"This draws a stark contrast with Democrats, who would rather let Social Security and Medicare go bankrupt. They refuse to balance the budget and continue to push job-killing taxes in a weak economy. Future generations cannot afford this liberal agenda, and our children cannot forever finance Obama's reckless spending.
"Thankfully, The Path to Prosperity saves us from the looming debt crisis and ensures a brighter future for America. Republicans across this country are committed to fiscal responsibility and will continue to offer substantive solutions to the challenges we face."
