WASHINGTON – Today the Republican National Committee (RNC) announced it has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking to obtain the several thousand work-related emails from Hillary Clinton’s secret email server which were discovered by the FBI in the course of its criminal investigation but never turned over to the State Department by Clinton or her attorneys.
“Hillary Clinton failed to turn over ‘several thousand’ work related emails despite falsely claiming she had done so to the State Department, the American people, and a federal court under penalty of perjury,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.
“It is already well-established that Hillary Clinton used her post as Secretary of State to benefit the Clinton Foundation, its donors, and various Democrat insiders, and Americans preparing to elect their next president deserve to know the full extent of her underhanded conflicts of interest and subsequent cover-up.”
The emails in question are federal records which were, in defiance of State Department officials, improperly deleted. Hillary Clinton’s failure to turn them over contradicts her repeated insistence she turned over all her emails, a claim conclusively revealed as a lie by FBI Director James Comey at his press conference on July 5th. Clinton’s failure to turn them over was in violation of her sworn declarations to a federal court, under penalty of perjury, that she turned over all emails relevant to the investigation.
The RNC intends to pursue every possible legal and administrative option to produce the release of these records before Election Day.
