WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the December jobs report:
“We’re glad to see jobs created, but Republicans believe we can and must do better than this—especially when we see so many people leaving the workforce and earnings declining. We must do better than having millions of Americans without work—and millions more giving up on finding work altogether,” said Chairman Priebus.
“Apparently President Obama disagrees. Mediocrity must be good enough for him because he’s already promising to veto bipartisan legislation that would create jobs and put people back to work. That includes bills to approve the Keystone Pipeline and to restore the 40-hour workweek that ObamaCare destroyed.
“It’s simply unacceptable that the president would issue a veto threat on the Keystone Pipeline. Likewise, it’s wrong that he would oppose restoring the 40-hour workweek, which will help working Americans increase the size of their paychecks.
“The president is promising to veto the will of the American people—even before the bipartisan legislation reaches his desk. The Republican-led Congress is ready to do its part to create jobs; President Obama should join them.
“Tom Steyer might not have been able to buy himself a Democratic Senate majority, but when it comes to Keystone, he apparently did buy the president’s blind allegiance to out-of-touch special interest groups.
“This is yet another reminder of why we must elect a Republican president in 2016. We cannot afford to continue President Obama’s policies, and Hillary Clinton—or whoever the Democratic nominee is—would be nothing more than Obama’s third term.”
