RNC Statement on Diwali

- October 19, 2017

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and Co-Chair Bob Paduchik released the following statement on the first day of Diwali:

"We wish our Hindu, Jain and Sikh friends a happy festival of lights as we celebrate Diwali," said Chairwoman McDaniel. "During the festival, we hope those who celebrate are surrounded by family and friends as they practice the religious traditions of this meaningful holiday.

"The lighting of the Diya and Diwali is a joyful celebration of the triumphant victory of light over darkness. We as Republicans embrace and continue to support religious freedom in our great country and encourage sharing these traditions with our very diverse communities."

"The RNC wishes a happy Diwali to our friends celebrating across the country," said Co-Chair Paduchik. "May they enjoy commemorating good over evil and knowledge over ignorance throughout the next five days and beyond."
