RNC Statement On The Passing Of Former Transportation Secretary William Coleman

- April 4, 2017

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the passing of former Transportation Secretary and Black Republican Trailblazer award winner, William T. Coleman:

“William Coleman exemplifies what it means to be a trailblazer,” said Chairwoman McDaniel.  “He was the first African American to clerk in the Supreme Court, worked with Thurgood Marshall to outlaw public school segregation in Brown v. Board of Education, and became the second African American to ever hold a cabinet position. Secretary Coleman inspired generations of Republicans by dedicating his life and career to the cause of civil rights and justice for all Americans, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.”
